The STRiDE Approach: Building Capacity in Using Research to Inform Dementia Policy

  • The Strenghtening Responses to Dementia in developing countries project (STRiDE) is a 4-year multinational academic project implementing in 7 developing countries, including Brazil, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kenya, Mexico and South Africa. It aims to build capacity in research to support the development, implementation and evaluation of national strategies to deliver appropriate, equitable, effective and affordable dementia care. Ms. Comas-Herrera will provide an overview of the STRiDE approach, share her experience in leading a multinational research project, and describe the key project outputs for improving dementia care.


Seminar on Navigating Dementia Care in the Community

  • The Hong Kong Alzheimer's Disease Association (HKADA) is organizing a half day seminar "Seminar on Navigating Dementia Care in the Community" held on 21/10/2019 (Monday) at 2:30 pm in the Auditorium of Duke of Windsor Social Service Building.

  • Professor Henry Brodaty is a world-renowned expert in the development of dementia care. He has years of experience in engaging community care and policy enhancement for dementia. At the seminar, Professor Brodaty will share with us his views of engaging primary care physicians in dementia care and prevention. Dr David Dai, JP, Chairman of HKADA, will review the current situations of dementia care in Hong Kong, in the context of the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Action Plan on Dementia. Dr Gloria Wong, Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Work and Social Administration, The University of Hong Kong, will discuss the role of social services in dementia care, focusing in particular the medical-social collaboration models in Hong Kong and overseas, and the local engagement with global dementia care policy development.
